An armed teenager has released 4 women from custody after taking them hostage in a convenience store near Toulouse in southern France for more than four hours on Tuesday 7th March.
The teen is said to have seized the hostages at 4:20pm, shooting at least one shot at officials and demanding a negotiator. Officers from the elite RAID (Search Assistance Intervention Deterrence) police units were called to the scene to assist local officers.
A police source has told reporters that the incident appears to have been a robbery gone wrong. The suspect is yet to have surrendered according to recent reports.
Officials have asked residents who live nearby to remain at home whilst those who were not at home during the incident wanting access to their homes are being told to wait
